to be a librarian is to have the most boring job in the world, i'd wager. no offense to librarians, of course. it's nothing personal.
to catalogue, shelf read, wrap, process, stamp, watermark, label, repair, shelf books... i'd count it the most boring job not because it's repetitive, which it is, and which many jobs also happen to be, but because it's repetition of the intellectual sort. even if you stand around handing out fliers about hairdressing and tuition, your mind doesn't need to be on the action of your facial muscles and hands. but fliers happen to be the most unnecessary means of paper wastage that i know of, so it's off to the library for me.
when i did community work at the library i couldn't bear to stay for more than two hours. average was one and half. why is it that your stereotypical librarian is portrayed as an intellectual with horn-rimmed glasses? by now i wouldn't wonder if the job's frozen their minds.
in fact it's almost like rs.
you do it for the sake of doing it, what's great is you actually get to do worthwhile things on the side. like blogging. to purely play would constitute torture. people take the monotony out of it, yet sometimes you'd almost prefer monotony to human company. it's the human company that ensures you aren't operating now like a machine. there's the intellectual shackles of it.
there was a forum topic i came across, it went something like this. rs: a game or a test of patience?
neither would be my answer. monotony mixed in with the stench (fine, aroma) of humanity can't be labelled a game. but who ever said monotony couldn't be fun?
because strangely enough, that's what it seems to be.

routine.
i'm so bored. the nature of my routine:
- i mine say 200 iron, 450 coal, 30 mith and 20 gold.
- i smelt it all in lumby.
- i teleport over to varrock and smith it all into steel plates and mith swords.
- i sell the plates and swords, world hopping once stock reaches 7 and 10, respectively.
- i splurge half of the money on runes.
- i go hunting stronghold of security creatures (graduated from catlepomb things to ankous) or ice giants in fally or moss giants in crandor. that's the only fun part.
- i teleport over to fally and get the pick out again...
it's so boring!
i waste so much time in lumby, purposely talking if only to be swamped by pms. other than the social aspect of it all, there's no fun to the game anymore.
that's why modship's so welcome. it's the only thing that keeps me playing.
it's kind of pathetic.

just today. (boringly).
today. involved.
- mining.
- and more mining.
- of coal, then iron, then coal, then mithril, then coal, then gold, then mithril, then iron...
- entry into the mining guild! at last. so many coal rocks! a let down since there's no addy to speak of, but so. many. coal. rocks. so many that you don't even have to wait for respawn time. so many that i am able to formulate a hypothesis that members, upon venturing out into the real world, resort to lowdown undignified tactics because they aren't used to the real world. so many that there're 37, or so i've estimated.
- smelting.
- and more smelting. of steel and gold bars.
- venturing out into the great unknown. with a colour, search-engine equipped, overview-possible map. i.e. going to the wildy to hunt chaos dwarves. and getting nothing but gp. then seeking to explore the lava maze anyway, only to find i've forgotten a knife. a lousy knife. now i do know i deserve to return to
- smithing. steel plates, mainly. and one skirt, and one sword. and
- making >45k! yay!
- finding myself without a goal for the rest of the time. and promptly logging out to blog.
ohyes. record carried over from last time. in the meanwhile i've
- met the rock golem and defeated it! ahahaha. picked up one coal, and savouring the feel of being the victor because more likely than not the next time we meet it'll be lvl 120. that was at the mithril rocks, in any case. and don't come to me for advice, (not that you would, anyway) because quite honestly it was something of a fluke. since f2p has such limited bank space; armour: princess blouse, princess skirt, leather vambraces, leather boots. ammy: power ammy! shield: black square. wep: addy pick. food: one apple pie. attack: everything, haphazardly. prayer: 0/37
- cap'n hand. ~800gp. at the main coal rocks.
- the mom, at the same coal rocks. mysterious box.
- and unrelatedly, while high alching, the mom, en route the mime stage! my first time.
apparently i've developed a liking for lists. back to the real world now.
(italics too! [em] [/em] :D)
